FAQ

Short answers. The long ones live on the guide pages.

If a question is really 'is this an emergency,' skip this page and use the red block on the hub or call.

Is this medical advice?

No. Recovery Shelf is a field guide for the house. It does not diagnose, treat, heal, cure, or prevent disease. Your discharge papers and your clinician outrank every page here.

When should I call a clinician or go back to the ER?

When you hit a hard line on any guide page — breathing trouble, chest pain, a fall, a wound that opens or soaks, a hot swollen calf, a fever with spreading redness, vomiting you cannot stop, or a sense you cannot stay safe. If you are unsure, call. Waiting for a product to 'kick in' is not a plan.

Why is there a shop at all?

Because after the hard lines, some recoveries are a geometry problem: a toilet that sits too low, ice that will not stay on a knee, pills that live in four bottles. The shelf lists those objects with grades and limits. Help first, kit last.

What do the evidence grades mean?

Protocol staple means the object shows up often on discharge and physical-therapy lists for transfers and fall control. Comfort support means people use it for rest or ache — it is not a therapy. Routine helper means it makes a daily habit visible. None of the grades mean the object treats an illness.

Do you make money from the links?

Yes, when you buy through an Amazon link. Recovery Shelf uses associate tag recoveryshelf-20. That is disclosed on the shelf page and in the footer. A commission does not change a grade or turn a bench into a treatment.

Can I use this for kidney stones or another specific diagnosis?

No. This site is a general home-recovery guide. It is not a condition-specific clinic and it is not a kidney-stone brand. Use the plan for the diagnosis you were actually given.

What if I live alone?

Set a check-in with a person before you leave the building. Keep the phone on the bed you will use. Do not plan to be the only adult in the house the night after sedation if your team said you need company.

Can I skip a prescribed medicine if I feel fine?

Not from reading this site. Ask the team that wrote the list. Stopping an antibiotic, a blood thinner, or a taper on your own is how ordinary recoveries turn into return visits.
